Low Country Boil : A Family Favorite

Growing up on the Southeast Georgia coast, this simple yet sensational dish was a cornerstone of family gatherings, passed down for generations. From my childhood days spent exploring the marshlands to my journey into wife and motherhood, where I recreate the magic for my own loved ones, Low Country Boil has been a constant source of joy and connection.

My husband’s family is from Michigan and whenever they come to visit, you can bet Low Country Boil with fresh, sweet, Georgia shrimp is on the menu! Their eyes light up as they dive into a steaming plate of plump shrimp, hearty sausage, sweet corn and potatoes, with all the fixins! So no matter what part of the country you’re from, you are sure to enjoy this delicious seafood feast!

INGREDIENTS
• 1 lb smoked sausage (kielbasa) sliced into 2 inch pieces
• 1 ½ to 2 lb of new potatoes, halved
• 4 ears of corn, broken in half
• 1 lb of shrimp
• Zatarain’s crab boil seasoning

CONDIMENTS
• Soft butter
• Sour cream
• Old Bay seasoning
• Horseradish cocktail sauce

HORSERADISH COCKTAIL SAUCE
• 2 cups ketchup
• 2 teaspoons horseradish
• Juice of 1 lemon
• Combine, chill and serve.

DIRECTIONS
• Fill in a very large stockpot about 2/3 full of water and add crab boil seasoning. Heat to a rolling boil.
• Add sausage and cook for 20 minutes.
• Add new potatoes and cook for 10 minutes.
• Add shrimp and cook for 3 minutes.
• When the shrimp are cooked drain all ingredients.
• Pour onto newspaper that you have spread out on a table and serve hot with bowls of butter, Old Bay seasoning, sour cream, and cocktail sauce.

COOKING TIPS & PAIRING SUGGESTIONS
The shrimp cooks fast so do not overcook! When they turn pink they are ready.

We love to pair our lowcountry boil with some garlic bread!
